According to the Rivals site Orangebloods.com, Houston Second Baptist quarterback Connor Wood, the top quarterback prospect from the Lone Star State, has decided to commit to Texas over OU.
Earlier this month, Wood’s high school coach told The Oklahoman that it was looking like Wood’s decision was going to come down to the Red River rivals.
Wood attended the junior days at both OU and Texas, though he also had offers from numerous other schools, including Alabama, LSU and Notre Dame.
The Longhorns already were stocked with talented young quarterbacks, with Garrett Gilbert, the nation’s No. 3 QB in the 2009 class already campus, and 2010 blue-chipper Case McCoy (the younger brother of Texas starting quarterback Colt McCoy) recently giving his verbal commitment.
With Wood now expected to join them at Texas, OU apparently will shift its recruiting focus to Wichita Bishop Carroll quarterback Blake Bell, who reportedly received an offer recently from the Sooners.
The 6-foot-6, 200-pound Bell carries offers from several other schools, including Georgia, LSU, Miami, Missouri and Notre Dame.
OU coach Bob Stoops has said that signing a quarterback in the 2010 class is a
“priority,”with the Sooners possessing only three quarterbacks on the current roster.
