Texas backup QB moving to WR
Texas backup quarterback John Chiles is moving to wide receiver.
The Longhorns begin spring practice Friday. Chiles was an All-American in high school but has spent his career playing behind Colt McCoy, last season's runner-up for the Heisman Trophy.
Chiles will be a junior next season. Texas coach Mack Brown says Chiles requested the move.
The move leaves Texas thin at quarterback experience. Junior Sherrod Harris, who has played in three games in his career, is now the top backup.
Next fall, Texas will also have high school All-American Garrett Gilbert, who signed with Texas earlier this month.
